The Gambia Foreign Policy:

The Gambia’s foreign policy is carved within the framework of the purposes and principles of the Charters of both the United Nations and the African Union, on the basis of mutual respect for the sovereign equality, independence and territorial integrity of states, the maintenance of international peace and security, and promotion of friendly relations among nations; and conditioned by the country’s commitment to the doctrine of non-alignment.

Recognising that The Gambia’s internal stability and socio-economic progress are not unconnected with her relations with the outside world, The Gambia’s foreign policy evolution was inspired mainly by geography, history and culture. These geopolitical realities have necessitated the creation of privileged framework of cooperation with her neighbours and friendly countries across the globe.
