The Amadou Mahtar Mbow University (UAM), which constitutes the second university in Dakar, was inaugurated on 1st December 2022 in Diamniadio by the Head of State of the Republic of Senegal, His Excellency Macky Sall. Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe, Deputy Head of Mission at the Gambia High Commission in Senegal represented the High Commissioner at the event.

The President of the Republic named the second university of Dakar University Amadou Mahtar Mbow, named after the former Director General of UNESCO and former President of the National Commission for institutional reform (CNRI). Located in the heart of the new city of Diambiadio, between Abdoulaye Wade Stadium and Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD), the UAM has 2 amphitheaters with a capacity of 1500 seats each, a large university library, state-of-the-art laboratories and a restaurant with 1000 seats. The President of the Republic used this opportunity to invite students to be inspired by the values of Amadou Mahtar Mbow in terms of thirst for knowledge, determination and above all civic sense.
