 TY IN AFRICA
DESCRIPTION:Honourable Mamadou Tangara\, Minister of Foreign Affairs Intern
 ational Cooperation and Gambians Abroad attended the 8th edition of the Da
 kar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa held from October 
 24th to 25th\, 2022 at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CI
 CAD) in Dakar\, Senegal under the theme "Africa to the test of exogenous s
 hocks: challenges of stability and sovereignty".\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Honorab
 le Minister was accompanied to the Forum by His Excellency Hadrammeh M. Si
 dibeh\, High Commissioner of the Republic of The Gambia to the Republic of
  Senegal\, Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe\, Deputy Head of Mission and Commissioner
  Louis Mendy\, Consular Officer.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Opening Ceremony was at
 tended by His Excellency Macky Sall\, President of the Republic of Senegal
 \, His Excellency Joao Lourenco\, President of Angola\, His Excellency Jos
 e Maria Neves\, President of Cape Verde\, Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau 
 as well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and representatives from Saudi
  Arabia\, Japan\, Mali\, Libya\, Turkey\, France\, United States\, India (
 among others) and International organizations.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSenegalese Pr
 esident Macky Sall\, the current Chairperson of the African Union\, spoke 
 at the opening ceremony of the event\, which he hopes will support Africa'
 s bid for a permanent seat on the G20 and the UN Security Council.\n\n&nbs
 p\;\n\nPresident Macky Sall focused his intervention on several aspects\, 
 including terrorism that continues to gain ground in Africa\, the global e
 conomic crisis\, digital abuses among other pressing matters affecting the
  continent\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe forum had various plenary sessions and themat
 ic workshops that brought together more than 300 participants\, African an
 d international leaders\, institutional funders and high-level experts. Th
 e discussion and exchanges created an opportunity to formulate responses t
 o the crises that Africa is experiencing\, in favor of the development of 
 the continent and the well-being of the populations. In addition to the hi
 gh-level panel that brought together heads of state around the challenges 
 of stability and sovereignty of the continent\, two strong themes were add
 ressed during the plenary sessions.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe 1st Plenary: Strateg
 ic Empowerment of the continent in the field of security. It created the o
 pportunity to discuss the balance sheet and strategic directions to be pur
 sued in order to further promote the security autonomy of the African Unio
 n and the regional organizations of the continent.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOn 25th O
 ctober 2022 Honourable Mamadou Tangara\, Minister of Foreign Affairs Inter
 national Cooperation and Gambians Abroad moderated the 2nd Plenary Session
  on “Global Crises and Sovereignty in Africa”. The panelists included 
 the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs\, Hon. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu\, Liby
 an Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation\, Hon. Najla 
 Al-Mangouch\, Malian Foreign Minister\, Hon. Abdoulaye Diop\, Minister of 
 Foreign Affairs of Sudan\, Hon. Ali Al Sadie Ali\, Vice Foreign Minister o
 f India\, Hon. Vellamvelly Muraleedharan and Madam Giovanie Biha\, Special
  Representative of the Secretary General of l’ONU\, UNOWAS.\n\n&nbsp\;\n
 \nThe 2nd Plenary dealt with Global Crises and Sovereignty in Africa\, wit
 h the objective of drawing the outlines of new models of African\, more re
 silient sovereignty\, in order to allow States to cope more effectively wi
 th the consequences of international crises.
