His Excellency Muhammed B.S Jallow, Vice-President of the Republic of The Gambia, paid a working visit to Senegal from 04th to 07th August 2024, as part of an effort to deepen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Senegal and The Gambia.   

This visit, which testifies to the vitality of the fraternal and cooperative relations between the two countries, follows that of H.E. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia in Dakar, on the occasion of the inauguration of H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye as President of the Republic of Senegal, and the latter’s visit on 20th April 2024, in Banjul. 

His Excellency Muhammed B.S Jallow led a high-powered delegation including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Fisheries, as well as other senior officials, with a view to strengthening the Dakar-Banjul Axis and deepening the ties that unite our sister nations as part of a strengthened regional integration dynamic. 

During his stay, the Gambian Vice-President paid a courtesy call on H.E. the President of the Republic of Senegal and had a tête-à-tête with his counterpart, H.E. Ousmane Sonko, Prime Minister of Senegal, followed by delegation level talks, during which they exchanged views on bilateral, African and multilateral issues of common interest. 

As regards bilateral cooperation, the priority sectors of Defense and Security, Fisheries and Transport were reviewed, with a view to formulating recommendations for improving cooperation in these areas. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the two delegations expressed their satisfaction with the fraternal atmosphere that prevailed during the discussions, and welcomed the new impetus given to bilateral cooperation between the two countries, under the leadership of their Excellencies Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye and Adama Barrow.
