His Excellency Hadrammeh M. Sidibeh, High Commissioner of the Republic of The Gambia accredited to the Republic of Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso presented his letters of credence to His Excellency General Assimi Goita, President of the Transition, Head of State of the Republic of Mali on Thursday, 28th November 2024 at the Presidential Palace in Bamako.
During the colourful ceremony, High Commissioner Sidibeh conveyed fraternal greetings and best wishes from His Excellency President Adama Barrow and the People of the Republic of The Gambia to His Excellency General Assimi Goita, President of the Transition, Head of State of the Republic of Mali, his entire Government and the People of Mali.
High Commissioner Sidibeh highlighted the cultural and ethnic values that our two countries share which forms the solid foundations of our cooperation. He further states the strong desire of the Government of The Gambia to further improve the ties of friendship and cooperation between The Gambia and Mali for the benefit of our two peoples.
He underscored his willingness to work with the Government of the Republic of Mali to further strengthen the existing bilateral ties between the two countries especially in strengthening the economic and trade cooperation between The Gambia and Mali. High Commissioner Sidibeh expressed appreciation to His Excellency General Assimi Goita and the Government and the people of Mali for creating a conducive environment for the Gambians living in Mali.
On his part, His Excellency General Assimi Goita, President of the Transition, Head of State of the Republic of Mali welcomed High Commissioner Sidibeh to the Republic of Mali and congratulated him on his appointment as the Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the Republic of Mali. He conveyed warm wishes to His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia. His Excellency General Assimi Goita emphasised the cultural and ethnic values both countries share and assured his government’s desire and commitment to maintain the cordial relations with The Gambia and further strengthen the cooperation.
Earlier during the week, High Commissioner Sidibeh presented the copies of the letters to His Excellency Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali on Tuesday, 26th November 2024.
High Commissioner Sidibeh was accompanied to the presentation ceremony by his spouse, Madam Binta Jaiteh Sidibeh, Mr. Modibo Diarra, Honorary Consul of The Gambia to Mali, Ms. Fatou Kinneh Jobe, Deputy Head of Mission and Mr. Ansumana Bojang, Customs Attaché of The Gambia High Commission in Dakar, Senegal.
During the visit the delegation also held a meeting with the Malian Investment Agency to discuss about the proposal to organize The Gambia – Mali Economic, Trade and Investment Forum. The delegation also met with the Gambian Community in Mali to discuss some of their challenges.
