These bilateral meetings form part of the campaign by the Republic of The Gambia in support of the candidacy of the Honourable Justice Veronic Wright, Judge of the Court of Appeal of The Gambia, for election as Judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC), under List A – Criminal Law and Procedure. Her candidacy will be presented at the 25th Session of the Assembly of States Parties, in New York, in December 2026.
Justice Wright brings over 35 years of distinguished career, including nearly 18 years of United Nations service, notably as Trial Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Senior Legal Adviser at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, and various senior roles at UNODC, UNITAD and UNOCT. She has also served as Principal State Counsel and national prosecutor in The Gambia, Court of Appeal judge and ad-hoc Supreme Court justice, and Chair of the drafting committee for the establishing instruments of the Gambia-ECOWAS Special Tribunal.
