The Bakau Aquatic Canoeing & Kayaking Paddle Club is proud to announce its participation in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (October 31 – November 13), the first Olympic event hosted on African soil.
The club’s involvement marks an important moment for water sports in The Gambia and for the country’s young athletes. Taking part in Dakar gives its members a chance to share that passion with the wider Olympic community and to show what a small, ambitious nation can achieve.
The Youth Olympic Games celebrate sport, education and values. For the club’s young paddlers, being part of this event means exposure to athletes from around the world, new training ideas and the motivation that comes from seeing their sport on an international stage. It also shows young Gambians that pathways exist beyond the more familiar disciplines.
